Valley Farms® Cardinal Mix Wild Bird Food is designed with The Cardinal family in mind, but its simple and effective ingredients will attract a wide variety of wild birds to your feeding stations!
★ Black oil sunflower is one of the most widely used seed for bird feeding, as almost all wild birds love it. It contains healthy oils, fats, and proteins to keep birds energized all year round! Black Oil Sunflower's thin shells make them accessible to birds of all sizes - even the smallest of finch.
★ Striped Sunflower Seeds are similarly nutritious, but their larger size will limit the amount of birds able to eat them. This ensures that even is all the black oil gets eaten by other birds, there will always be seeds left for the Cardinals to enjoy!
★ Safflower Seed is a less known seed is beloved by avid birders for its ability to attract a wide variety of beautiful birds while deterring some feeder hogs. Safflower has a hard shell that cannot be cracked by weaker beaked birds like sparrows and blackbirds, but is easily opened by Cardinals and Grosbeaks.
★ For best results place feeders near some hedges or shrubs, this way the Cardinal will feel safer in this more enclosed territory as the bushes will provide them shelter if they feel threatened.
★ The Cardinal needs plenty of perching room, so be sure to choose tray feeders, long perch tube or hopper feeders, or consider placing Cardinal mix on porch railings or on the ground.
★ Birds that feed on Valley Farms® seed may include: The Northern Cardinal, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, Black-headed Grosbeak, Blue Grosbeak, Indigo Bunting, Bluejays, Chickadees, Nuthatch, Pine Siskin, Redpoll, House Finch, Purple Finch, Mourning Dove, Dark-Eyed Juncos, and Titmouses. At times, even woodpeckers can be been seen feeding on this mix.
Please store all wild bird foods in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Investigate for mold before feeding the birds.
Always keep your bird feeding stations clean to promote a safe, disease free place for wildlife and humans alike.
